Being diagnosed with insomnia

6 December 2009 in insomnia information

Have you been diagnosed with insomnia or another sleep disorder? If so, do you feel your diagnosis was based on a thorough consultation process? We recently read of one diagnosis that seemed all too speedy to us – but again, we are not doctors. Sleep disorders are complicated – can they be diagnosed based on one consultation?

It seems to us that sleep disorders are quickly diagnosed, but treatment options are very limited. This doesn’t seem right – if sleep disorders are becoming increasingly common, surely our understanding of them (their causes and how to treat them) should also be advancing at the same time? At the moment, this doesn’t seem to be the case.
