Can online Cognitive Behavioural Therapy cure your insomnia?

19 January 2010 in insomnia cures

We know that some of you aren’t believers in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (often because it didn’t work for you). However, that being said, it can help some insomnia sufferers so for that reason alone it’s something that can’t be ignored.

This article from ABC12 talks about CBT and serves up some interesting statistics, with ‘experts’ claiming a 70-80% success rate with CBT (although they do not define ’success’). Of course, not everyone has easy access to trained counsellors – so we found it interesting that the article mentioned that some specialists offer online sleep counselling programs. What’s more, according to a study in the journal SLEEP, 81% of patients who completed a five week online program for insomnia reported improvements in their sleep.

We’d like to hear from you on this. Have you tried CBT? Did it help you sleep better? Have you tried an online course? We have to admit to being sceptical about those in particular, but the statistics are impressive. Our comments form is below, as usual.
