We’ve noticed an increasing number of stories coming out recently about childhood insomnia. We’ll be honest here – we didn’t know how big of an issue this was. By some accounts, it is estimated that up to 20% of young children have insomnia. If your child is having trouble sleeping (and you live in the UK), then a show due to air on Channel 4 on Thursday 26 November may be of interest.
Perhaps the publicity surrounding this TV documentary is the reason why we are seeing an increase in stories about childhood insomnia – we wouldn’t like to say one way or the other. What we will say however, is this – any increase in publicity or awareness regarding sleeping disorders is 100% welcome.
As our insomnia help forums develop, we want to build a section for parents whose children struggle to sleep. We want to make sure our community is open and inclusive for everyone affected by insomnia.
