Fight your insomnia by avoiding daytime horizontal positions

12 December 2009 in insomnia cures

We’re always on the lookout for fresh insomnia advice – and the latest information we found was certainly original. We’ve never come across advice that states, “No naps, and don’t even think about doing anything in a horizontal position during the day.” But now we have.

Awkward terminology aside, the brief article mentions that 20 minutes in the sun first thing in the morning, combined with exercise a couple of hours before bed can relieve insomnia symptoms. Indeed, 39 out of 51 patients in a study had been ’significantly helped’ after a year of this regime.

We’ve heard the advice about evening exercise before (although there is conflicting advice over just how strenuous this should be), but the morning sunshine is new to us. Have you heard of this before? Maybe you’ve tried it – if so, please let us know.
