Inside the mind of an insomniac

16 April 2010 in insomnia information

This post is more for those that don’t suffer from insomnia – we want to give you a better idea of what the typical insomnia sufferer has to go through each night when their brains keep them awake.

This blog post from Kyle at The Reformed Buddhist does a great job of describing the battle an insomniac has to go through with their over-active minds. Some highlights of the thoughts going through Kyle’s insomnia riddled brain at night include:

I wish I could detach my arms before sleep, they always seem to get in the way… Why do humans wave to greet people? Why is my pillow always hot on one side and cool on the other? Weird, why am I naked? Wait, never mind, still have my boxer shorts on… I am kinda disappointed my fart didn’t smell… Screw it, I just should get up and go shower and get ready for work…

For the good stuff, go check out the post – many readers will be able to relate to the experience of ‘squirrel brain’ as Kyle so eloquently puts it. For the non-insomniacs out there, welcome to our world!
