One of the main reasons we started our insomnia help forums was to give insomnia sufferers a place to get genuine information, support and advice from people who know what they’re going through – ie, other insomniacs.
Therefore, we’re particularly excited to share some insomnia advice we found from someone who is an insomniac themselves. Mark Rice-Oxley had a nervous breakdown in 2009 and could no longer sleep. As he overcame the breakdown, he found sleep to be the hardest thing to get back to normal.
Mark recommends meditation (a half hour session in the middle of the evening) and breathing exercises for when you find it impossible to fall asleep. He also advises you to stop thinking and accept your insomnia.
Advice we’ve shared before, but it’s always encouraging to see other insomniacs recommending similar approaches for insomnia relief.
