Insomnia, antidepressants and restless leg syndrome

11 June 2010 in insomnia causes

We don’t normally reference an article twice, but the source of our recent post about caffeine being more effective than sleep also yielded another interesting snippet of information.

Apparently, prescription antidepressants may cause restless leg syndrome.

We know that many insomniacs suffer from depression and RLS – so the idea that there may be a link between antidepressants and restless leg syndrome (and insomnia) doesn’t completely surprise us.

That being said, if you suspect your antidepressants are behind your insomnia, make sure you raise your concerns with your doctor before changing any medication regime.
