Insomnia? Maybe you just have an electromagnetic allergy

27 January 2010 in insomnia causes

We briefly mentioned this story last week on our Twitter feed, but thought we’d make a post of it here for anyone that missed it. Apparently, a man from Sante Fe is suing his neighbour – he claims that her gadgets are responsible for side-effects that include nausea, vertigo, diarrhea, ringing in the ears, severe headaches and body aches, crippling joint pains, insomnia, impaired vision,  and impaired muscular control.

While this law case may well be rather frivolous (we’re not making an official comment!), the idea of Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity has been around for a while. If mobile phones, chargers and wireless internet are responsible for some cases of insomnia, surely we’ll only see the rate of sleep disorders rise over time – which makes this a big issue.

Surely this is yet another reason why more research is needed into insomnia and other sleep disorders.
