CureTogether recently got in touch with us to bring our attention to an infographic they published comparing the top 20 insomnia treatments. The research wasn’t particularly scientific, so we wouldn’t read too much into it – the data came from their members who have been, ‘… anonymously sharing symptoms and treatments over the past 2 years’.
It is, however, interesting. The two most popular insomnia treatments are shown as exercise and ‘switching off the tv and reading’. Exercise proves to be far more effective – in fact, it’s almost on par with the reported effectiveness of taking Lunesta.
When it comes to the insomnia drugs, Xanex, Ambien and Lunesta appear to be the most effective – with Ambien apparently being the most popular. There were some surprises in the infographic – Valerian was the least effective insomnia remedy, beaten by meditation, white noise and melatonin (to name a few).
It’s an interesting chart and worth taking a look at – just don’t take the results too seriously!
