A study from the University of Michigan has found that sleep disorders may play a role in aggressive behavior. The researchers found that children who had behavior problems such as aggression and bullying were twice as likely to suffer from a sleep disorder that led to daytime sleepiness.
The link may be down to the fact that the pre-frontal cortex of the brain (responsible for emotional control and social behavior) is sensitive to sleep deprivation.
Bullying can have long lasting consequences, so let’s hope we see more studies in this area.
