Look East to find your cure for insomnia

8 April 2010 in insomnia cures

We seem to be on a bit of a run with the natural remedies for insomnia just lately, so here’s another one. This time, we’re moving East and looking at Asian medicine and identifying some specific ingredients that may help you cure your insomnia – thanks to an article from Thanh Nien Daily.

Natural remedies for insomnia

Lotus Seed – Can relieve depression, poor memory, insomnia and dysentery.

Dried Seeded Longan – Can treat anemia, insomnia, digestive problems and depression. However, we’re warned to only eat ripe longans – if they’re premature they can ‘generate mucus’!

Shitake Mushroom – Also a good booster for the immune system.

Also mentioned are white chrysanthemums and celery. The article even lists some recipes for you to try – so next time you’re out and about, you might want to try checking out the the more exotic grocery aisles!
