Run the vacuum cleaner overnight if you want to cure your insomnia

7 April 2010 in insomnia cures

No, we’re not going to tell you that your messy bedroom is the cause of your insomnia (we’ve already done that) – instead, we want to quickly mention another of the more original insomnia cures we’ve come across.

Adam Young used his periods of insomnia to write music in his parents’ basement (proof that sometimes there can be positive aspects to insomnia) and tells us how he deals with it now:

Whenever I’m home I sleep with the vacuum cleaner running in the hall.

To be honest, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard people mention that loud noise helps them sleep – in our online community for insomniacs some of our members tell us the same thing (some also tell us that coffee actually helps them sleep).

However, running the vacuum cleaner overnight does sound a little extreme. That being said, we share any and all insomnia cures we come across – so if you’re looking for something new to try, you know what to do.

For less guilt, we recommend purchasing carbon credits to make up for all the electricity you’ll be consuming. Fingers crossed you also have deaf (or very distant) neighbors!

fight your lack of sleep by sharing
