We couldn’t help but share this one – a sleep pod has been designed for the Hôtel de Marc at Rheims (often frequented by jet lagged executives of the Veuve Cliquot champagne house). Its designer promises ‘sweet dreams’ and claims the pod has been designed using ‘tried and tested’ data gathered in studies for treating people who suffer from chronic insomnia.
Once you’re in the pod, you’ll experience the following stages:
- The curtain closes and the interior show begins(?!)
- Room temperature falls 2C to 19C
- The lights dim
- White noise begins, sleep arrives
- Temperature and light increases and a new day is born
This all sounds a bit Utopian and gimmicky to us, but from a design standpoint the sleep pod is a marvel to behold. You can view some pictures and read more over at Archinect.
Oh, and if you ever happen to stop over at the Hôtel de Marc and get to try one of these out, let us know how you get on!
