The NightWave projects a pulsing blue light into your bedroom. You are supposed to keep your eyes open and synchronize your breathing with the light pulses. Over time, the pulsing becomes slower (slowing down your breathing) until the machine shuts off and you fall asleep. Or so the claim goes.
We can’t bring ourselves to get as excited as the individuals shown on the manufacturer’s website, but we can’t immediately dismiss this one as just another insomnia gimmick – after all, we’ve written before about relaxation exercises and meditation helping insomnia sufferers fall asleep. This device seems to work on a similar principle.
If you’re after a natural insomnia remedy, this product might be worth the $50 entrance fee. If you do decide to give it a try, you might want to warn your neighbors – you don’t want that flashing blue light to make them think your bedroom has attracted the attention of the police.
On a more serious note, if you’ve tried this device, please let us know how it worked for you.

I thought we were to banish lights from our rooms–especially the blue variety.
We sure do get a lot of contradictory advice thrown at us!
(referring to the ad on the page) BTW, you couldn’t pay me to buy an ordinary mattress again, and Tempurpedics are out too (I don’t WANT a bed to conform to me or to warm me!). We could stand to upgrade our sleepnumber mattress, though.
Yup, there sure is a lot of contradictory advice out there. I think the blue light being bad is more to do with the light that we can’t actually see as blue – like the blue light emitted from computers and other screens.
Different ads are served on the blog to different visitors and we do not endorse any advertisers whatsoever. That being said, I bought a memory foam mattress from IKEA last year and absolutely love it!
