We'd agree with you that expensive doesn't always mean quality - and we find the 'odd' shaped pillows to be uncomfortable, too. I've never gotten free pillows with a mattress, so obviously I'm missing out on something. lol As a side note, I have tried buying pillows for side sleeping andfound them to be extremely uncomfortable.
