It probably won’t surprise you to learn that new parents tend to get less sleep than the rest of us. What may surprise you are some actual statistics, though.
According to a survey by Silentnight, new parents lose an average of six months sleep during the first two years of their child’s life.
Furthermore, almost two-thirds of parents with children under two years old get just three and a quarter hours of sleep per night. An unlucky one in ten parents will get only two and a half hours.
Some insomnia causes are easier to figure out than others but that doesn’t make statistics like these any less shocking.
Now we just need a study to tell us how much sleep we lose when our cute little babies turn into teenagers!
As always, there's more information and advice in our insomnia support forum.
