So that we can keep up to date with all the latest news about insomnia, we subscribe to Google Alerts. Almost every time 'insomnia cures' are mentioned, the advice is pretty much always the same. It runs along the lines of:
- Build a sleep routine
- Relax before bedtime
- Have a bath before bed
- Listen to soothing music before bedtime
- Avoid excessive caffeine
We don't want to say these tips don't work - however, we will say that we know (from listening to YOU) that a lot of the time, this advice doesn't work. Indeed - many of you feel that this kind of advice is patronizing. Relax before bedtime? Errr... yeah, thanks.
The problem is this: insomnia isn't fully understood. Therefore when you ask for help, this is the typical advice you'll get (at least initially). Talk about frustrating. Hopefully, when our community launches we'll see better advice from people that truly understand insomnia - YOU.
