A lot of people tell me that their doctor wasn't particularly helpful when it came to diagnosing or treating their insomnia.
Many people give up seeking further professional advice once their primary care physician appears to give up on them.
Of course, the solution could be to change doctors - but you run the risk of being unhappy with the outcome once again. Most doctors dread insomnia patients - so you're probably better off going to a doctor that specializes in sleep disorders.
If you're in the United States, you can find a sleep center by visiting Sleepcenters.org. The site is compiled and published by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and only lists AASM accredited members.
If you ever reach the point where you feel you've hit a dead end with your regular doctor, don't give up. Try finding a sleep specialist instead.
