Why sleep deprivation makes you hungry
Is your lack of sleep making you feel hungry? If so, there may be a scientific reason for it.
Apparently, when we don't get enough rest, our bodies produce higher amounts of ghrelin (a hormone that stimulates hunger). Not only that, ghrelin also reduces the amount of energy we expend - making sleep deprivation particularly problematic for dieters.
Yet another link between diet and insomnia, then - but now you've got a great excuse to load up on the turkey and its high levels of tryptophan this holiday season!
