We're not talking about injuries as a side effect of sleeping medication today.
Instead, we want to tell you about a new study that found insomnia sufferers are more likely to experience an injury regardless of whether they're taking medication.
This latest study looked at close to 5,000 individuals who found it hard to fall asleep or stay asleep at least three times each week and have suffered from these symptoms for at least a year.
The study collected information from those who reported an accident or injury in the past year that caused functional impairment for at least a day or required medical attention.
Researchers found that those with insomnia were almost twice as likely to suffer from a workplace injury compared to non-insomnia sufferers. As for non-workplace injuries, insomnia sufferers were found to be 1.5 times more likely to experience an injury compared to those who slept well.
Not only is insomnia costing us dear, it's also leading to very real mental and physical health consequences.
