Is it time to take flotation therapy for insomnia seriously?

When I last mentioned flotation therapy for insomnia two years ago, I was skeptical.

This hasn't changed completely - but I am open minded, and I have to admit that my opinion is being swayed as more studies are taking place linking flotation therapy with a number of health benefits - including improved sleep health.

Peter Suedfeld, a professor emeritus of psychology at the University of British Columbia, Canada, has been researching flotation therapy for almost ten years.

He claims that flotation therapy can alleviate insomnia, reduce blood pressure, improve range of movement for those suffering from arthritis, aid relaxation, enhance learning, reduce the symptoms of fibromyalgia and even enhance creativity in music and science.

Dave Nash was having trouble sleeping (although he wasn't actually diagnosed with insomnia). After just one flotation session, he slept through the night for three nights in a row.
