Your children are the cause of your insomnia

It probably won't surprise you to learn that new parents tend to get less sleep than the rest of us. What may surprise you are some actual statistics, though.

According to a survey by Silentnight, new parents lose an average of six months sleep during the first two years of their child's life.

Furthermore, almost two-thirds of parents with children under two years old get just three and a quarter hours of sleep per night. An unlucky one in ten parents will get only two and a half hours.

Some insomnia causes are easier to figure out than others but that doesn't make statistics like these any less shocking.

Now we just need a study to tell us how much sleep we lose when our cute little babies turn into teenagers!
